After watching the second Gaurdians of the Galaxy movie I decided I just had to paint Yondu a.k.a. Mary Poppins.
Today was my daughters 8th birthday party. It was a huge crazy fun affair. My wife made a beautiful cake and 30 kids showed up. While we were getting ready I snagged a goody bag and painted it. This painting is 7" x 11".
I painted this Study in my studio last night using primarily a #10 bristle flat.
Here are 4 more studies of my mountain model, lit to simulate different times of day.
I had a bunch of my flesh tone mixtures left over from yesterday, so I did a portrait of one on my favorite actors today.
I painted a self portait today for the first time in a few years, I've really been enjoying painting a wider variety of subjects. This is painted in a Zorn Palette consisting of Yellow Ocre, Ivory Black, Napthol Red, and Titanium White.
I painted this a Plein Aire piece near my home yesterday morning.
Today my wife and I took advantage of the beautiful weather and did some Plein Aire painting. I painted one of our most well known landmarks Lower Table Rock. Although the sun was higher in the sky than I usually like, the shadows and colors of the plateau still made for an interesting painting.
Working on my painting.
My wife Jessica painting away.
